AAAS: Communicating your Science Workshop

OVPR’s Research Enhancement Unit is hosting the AAAS Communicating Science Workshop for GW faculty. Researchers who foster information-sharing and respect between science and the public are essential for the public communication of and engagement with science. Although traditional scientific training typically does not prepare scientists and engineers to be effective communicators outside of academia, funding agencies and research institutions are increasingly encouraging researchers to extend beyond peer-reviewed publishing and communicate their results directly to the greater public.

AAAS’ interactive ½ day workshop will allow for collaborative learning through small-group discussion, resource sharing, and participation in critique of other participants’ presentations. The workshop addresses how to communicate science broadly, through: media outreach; public outreach and engagement, such as efforts at schools, museums, and other community institutions; and online media, such as images, blogs, podcasts, etc.

Space is limited to 60 participants. Registration is required. Contact [email protected]  with the subject AAAS for questions or to register.
