PHS Conflicts of Interest
Effective August 24, 2012, a significant change in the procedure for disclosing conflicts of interest was implemented to comply with new federal regulation regarding public health service funding. Changes regarding training, disclosure, and proposal/award management requirements are detailed on this site.
These requirements affect PHS-funded investigators who receive an award notice or no-cost extension with an issue date on or after August 24, 2012. Under the new policy, investigators will need to submit a supplemental disclosure form prior to submitting a proposal to a PHS- funded agency, undergo training before the expenditure of award funds, and adhere to new procedures for proposal submissions, award acceptance, and management .
Online and instructor-led training sessions are offered to address these changes in more detail. The training covers:
- A summary of the changes in the NIH regulation
- Changes to GW’s FCOI policy
- Investigator and Institutional responsibilities under GW’s new policy
OVPR and the Office of the Provost encourage all investigators with active PHS-funded awards to proactively participate in our instructor-led training classes or through the CITI online training program.
