Research Systems and Platforms

GW Research Commons

GW Research Commons is a portal for research support and resources at GW.

GW Student Research Commons highlights postings for events, fellowships, and research position postings as well as the Zero-Credit Undergraduate Research Experience Transcript Notation application.

GW Faculty Research Commons highlights research enhancement services, chartered cross-disciplinary research institutes, and shared research facilities.

InfoReady

GW’s InfoReady portal manages GW’s intramural funding opportunities and the selection process for limited submission opportunities.

  • Contact: [email protected]
  • Log-in: To get started, register using the link in the site’s header or select a funding opportunity, where you will be directed to register (use your GW e-mail and password).

Pivot

Pivot is a searchable database of funding opportunities from federal and non-federal sources including foundations and commercial sponsors. The university's subscription to this service allows GW users to create customized searches and have matching opportunities e-mailed as they are posted.

myResearch

myResearch is GW’s integrated system for proposal development and sponsored award management. (myResearch replaced Cayuse as of February 16, 2022.)

PI Dashboard

PI Dashboard displays personalized financial and human resources information to help principal investigators make more informed project decisions. The system is designed to reduce administrative burden, increase transparency and streamline the financial management of awards.

GW iRIS

GW iRIS is the primary platform for submission, modification, and review of protocols for human subject (IRB), animal research (IACUC), and biosafety (IBC).

LabArchives

LabArchives is a secure, cloud-based platform for creating and collaborating within digital lab notebooks and for the storage, organization and sharing of scientific research and data. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR) has secured an enterprise license of LabArchives that allows all GW researchers (faculty and students) to utilize LabArchives at no cost to their projects.

REDCap

REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. While REDCap can be used to collect virtually any type of data, it is specifically geared to support online data capture for research studies and operations. REDCap surveys and databases are HIPAA compliant and include audit trails. There is no usage charge of REDCap for current GW faculty, staff, students, and affiliates (faculty and investigators at Children’s Hospital).

Additional Systems

GW’s scholarly community also relies on systems administered by other GW units.

EAS

  • The Enterprise Accounting System (EAS) accounts for all of the university's financial transactions, processes all requests for purchases, and allows users to manage the financial aspects of their sponsored research.

Procure-to-Pay (P2P)

  • The unified Procure-to-Pay structure provides streamlined coordination and communication at every step of the procurement to payment and contract management processes.
